“Capture life, simply.”
Feather Print was founded by Sarah Barkley in 2009, and in 2010 I photographed my first wedding on my own. Feather Print has won “The Best of the Knot” award in 2015, 2016, and 2017. We have been published in Shutter Magazine, and have features on Borrowed and Blue, Something Turquoise, and Sarah was also recognized as a successful woman in business on GoDaddy.com. I want you to feel at ease and take in the simplicity of the moments as they unfold. It is safe to assume that with your photography session you look for guidance and expertise when it comes to what photo would look best hanging as a 20×30 canvas in your family room. I especially want you to feel comforted in knowing that the products you are getting are products that we stand behind. My imagery is innovative, timeless, and best of all it’s real. I will guide you into poses, and will ask that you let your personality shine through so that we capture the simple essence of your interaction with one another.
Behind the Lens
I have been creating art since I was a child, and have always had a camera by my side. I have to mention that my first camera was a orange Ninja Turtle camera that said, “Cowabunga, smile!” every time I released the shutter. Luckily, technology has changed for the better and I have a wide range of professional photography equipment to capture your life. (And I probably won’t say, “Cowabunga!” while taking your pictures…but you never know.)
I graduated in May 2012 from Northern Illinois University with a BA in English. I also taught after school art classes during college for elementary students, which was something I felt very passionate about. Children deserve to express their creative minds, and I enjoyed that I was there to help inspire them.
So let’s get a little more personal. I was married in April of 2014 to my handsome husband, Zac. You will probably hear me reference my wedding a few times, just because having my own wedding opened my eyes even more to all of the details that I need to capture on a wedding day. We love dogs. We have a side business, which when we have time we create and refinish custom furniture.
I am inspired by the simplicity of the world around me. I am drawn toward big open fields at dusk. I love interior design, and always have the itch to rearrange something in my home. I love flea markets and antique shops. My vice is chocolate ice cream and binge watching Netflix with my dogs and husband. I like to workout, do yoga, and run. I really like to volunteer for Flashes of Hope, Pioneer Center in Crystal Lake, and Alexander Leigh Center for Autism.
